The winners of the most important awards at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival have been announced.
After 11 days of proceedings, on the evening of May 25th (local time), the organizers announced the winners of the most prestigious awards at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival. Among them, the coveted Palme d’Or was awarded to the film “Anora.”
Notably, the award for Best Actress was given to the entire female cast of the film, led by Emilia Perez, including Selena Gomez.
Thus, the Palme d’Or – the highest honor at the Cannes Film Festival – was bestowed upon “Anora,” directed and written by American filmmaker Sean Baker. The film delves into the subject of sex work, set against the backdrop of two major cities, New York and Las Vegas.
Prior to this, Sean Baker’s brainchild received a standing ovation 10 minutes after its premiere, currently boasting an IMDb rating of 8.3/10 and holding a fresh rating of 97% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Portuguese director Miguel Gomes won the Best Director award for the film Grand Tour. Coralie Fargeat’s The Substance won Best Screenplay. Meanwhile, the Best Actor award went to Jesse Plemons of the movie Kinds Of Kindness.
The best female lead award was a surprise at Cannes this year, when the jury awarded it to the entire female cast in Emilia Perez, including: Karla Sofía Gascón, Selena Gomez, Karla Sofia Gascon, Zoe Saldaña and Adriana Paz . Selena Gomez’s victory shook the music world and was a stepping stone for her epic comeback.
