Swifties are known for meticulously analyzing any updates on Taylor Swift, and they’ve just received a significant one.

Back in February, when Swift unveiled the track list for her upcoming album, The Tortured Poets Department, fans began to speculate that the song “But Daddy I Love Him” might be about one of her ex-boyfriends. While it’s still unclear whether the song is indeed about one of Swift’s past relationships, fans have discovered something new about the track — it’s nearly six minutes long.

The song’s length was disclosed on Thursday when music streaming platforms updated their pages for Swift’s new album.

On X, formerly Twitter, Swifties couldn’t contain their excitement about the track’s duration.

“BUT DADDY I LOVE HIM BEING ALMOST 6 MINUTES LONG??? WE ARE EATING GOOD,” exclaimed one fan.

“BUT DADDY I LOVE HIM 5:40??!! DOES SHE WANT TO KILL US?????!!!!” another fan posted in disbelief.

While “But Daddy I Love Him” isn’t her longest track, Swift has a history of writing deeply personal songs for closure, sparking intense speculation about the inspiration behind her new song.

“But daddy I love him and I can fix him (no really) is giving matty healy. I’ll let y’all sit on that for a minute,” suggested one user on X.

Swift briefly dated Matty Healy, frontman for The 1975, last year. Their split came after Healy made disparaging remarks in January 2023 about rapper Ice Spice, whom Swift collaborated with on the song “Karma.”

Others speculated that “But Daddy I Love Him” might reference Harry Styles, whom Swift dated from 2012 to 2013. While there’s no concrete evidence linking the song to Healy or Styles, Swift has a track record of writing songs believed to be about her past relationships.

Swift has since moved on to greener pastures; she hard-launched her romance with NFL star Travis Kelce in October.
