The capital city of Edinburgh (Scotland) is the next stop for Taylor Swift’s “The Eras Tour,” with 3 nights of performances at Murrayfield Stadium from June 7th to June 9th. As usual, the event is expected to draw a large audience, including tourists from many places, leading to increased demand for accommodation in Edinburgh.

Homeless people being evicted to make way for Taylor Swift fans

Currently, Edinburgh is in a housing emergency situation, with a record high number of homeless people. The local authorities have had to use tourist accommodations such as hotels and guesthouses to provide temporary housing for those without homes. However, when Taylor Swift comes to perform here, homeless people have been pushed out of the city to make room for tourists.

The news of homeless people being evicted to make way for Taylor Swift fans when she performs in Edinburgh has caused quite a stir.

Shelter Scotland, one of the charity organizations, shared that many of the homeless people they support have been sent by taxi to temporary accommodations far from the city: “One family had to move miles away from their workplace, school, and community to find emergency housing.”

Representatives from charitable organizations expressed outrage, saying that homeless people having to “directly compete” with tourists is “blatantly unfair.”

Meanwhile, the City of Edinburgh Council asserted that they “absolutely do not” relocate homeless people from temporary accommodations to make way for Taylor Swift fans. “We are aware of the situation and are working with affected households to find suitable alternative accommodation,” the agency added.

In response to this situation, Taylor Swift’s camp has not issued any statements.

Audience causes chaos, breaks barriers at Taylor Swift concert

A few days ago, Taylor Swift’s concert in the capital city of Lisbon (Portugal) experienced chaos as the audience caused disruptions and broke barriers due to having to wait too long to enter the stadium.

Prior to the concert, fans had already lined up outside the venue. According to the plan, the stadium gates were supposed to open at 4:00 PM, but they were delayed until 4:45 PM. Many fans had to wait for a long time under scorching heat. This made them angry, and they began to shout and yell at the security staff.

The fans waited in the scorching heat.

International media reported that about 200 fans attempted to break through the security barriers to enter the stadium, causing a chaotic situation. Their reckless actions left security personnel confused and frightened. “There were a lot of people pushing each other. They broke through the barriers. There were only two security guards outside, so additional forces had to be called in to suppress the situation. I’m not sure what caused the delay, but we had to wait for VIP guests to enter first, while fans had to wait,” recounted one staff member.
