Charlie Puth broke down in tears because of Taylor Swift

Charlie Puth couldn’t hide his emotions over Taylor Swift’s actions.

On May 24th, the singer released his song “HERO” on digital music platforms. This single serves as a precursor to his upcoming album, anticipated by fans of the 1991-born vocalist.

Charlie Puth revealed that he broke down in tears upon learning that Taylor Swift mentioned him in a song.

Recently, sharing about his new song with Rolling Stone, Charlie Puth revealed that he probably wouldn’t have released the track if he hadn’t received encouragement from Taylor Swift.

Charlie Puth recounted that about a month ago, when Taylor Swift was gearing up to release her 11th studio album titled “The Tortured Poets Department,” he received a call from a friend informing him that Taylor Swift had mentioned him in a song on this album. The reason Charlie Puth’s friend knew about this was because some tracks from Taylor Swift’s new album had leaked all over social media even before the official release date.

However, since there was nothing to authenticate this claim, Charlie Puth didn’t believe his friend’s account. He shared with Rolling Stone, “My brain immediately goes into ‘Oh!’ mode, like in an interview or something. It was amazing. I love Taylor Swift.”

The singer even speculated that the line his friend heard was generated by AI: “I thought I would wake up tomorrow and realize it was all a joke from someone teasing me because they thought I shouldn’t become a more successful artist. So, they took the name of the greatest artist since The Beatles to say I should become a more successful artist.”

On the day “The Tortured Poets Department” album was officially released, while doing his bedtime oral hygiene routine, Charlie Puth played the title track to listen to. Just as his friend had mentioned, Charlie Puth couldn’t contain his emotions when Taylor Swift mentioned his name: “I was shocked. My first thought was: ‘Wow, she’s mentioning my name and she pronounces it like P-O-O-T-H. And I just started crying…”

“It’s weird because it’s never good to look back at the past, but I feel like I could do everything a little bit differently in the past, but everything has to happen now,” Charlie Puth added.

The recognition that Taylor Swift gave to Charlie Puth through a line in the song “The Tortured Poets Department” helped the singer make the decision to release the song “HERO.”

Charlie Puth expressed his gratitude to Taylor Swift

In his announcement post about the release of his new song, Charlie Puth surprised fans by sending his thanks to Taylor Swift.

The singer said, “I’ve never written a song like this before – it’s very different for me, but I want to thank Taylor Swift for making me realize through music that I can’t keep this on the hard drive anymore. HERO is yours on May 24th, and this is the only piece of art. Thank you to all my fans – you’ll never know how much you mean to me…”
